TIPS TO KEEPING A PEST FREE HOME

Having regularly scheduled pest control service is the key to maintaining a pest free home long-term but if you’re looking for ways to do some preventative maintenance yourselves, here are some tips!

  1. Inspect the exterior of your home for any gaps or cracks in the foundation, siding, and the windows. Insects and rodents can make their way into your home through the tiniest of holes. If possible, seal these holes and cracks to keep them from entering your home!
  2. When you are not using your hose, turn it off completely so that you do not have a water source for the pests.
  3. Make sure that your trash receptacles are always closed so that bugs cannot get in. Keep your receptacles in an area where it cannot be pushed over to keep other pests from overturning it for a meal.
  4. Believe it or not, properly trimmed trees and bushes can also minimize pests and their access to your home. Branches that touches your house will make it easy for ants or rodents to access it.
  5. Last but not least, keeping a clean home will give pests less opportunities to survive. Clutter can be a good place for pests to seek shelter and food that is left out can serve as food source for them. Try to keep food in your kitchen in sealed containers or your refrigerator and avoid eating in your other living spaces. Even pet food that is laying around can be a food source for pests so be sure to put it away in a container when your pets aren’t eating.
